P. of Pittsburgh Henseatic. beloved husband of Mildred Boyer Gessner: father of Linda, Richard, Kenneth -43- Actor-Writer Ratoff Dies In Switzerland Blood Cancer Claims Author Of Many Plays, Films SOLOTHURN, Switzerland, Dec. 14 American actordirector Gregory Ratoff died in the Solothurn Citizens' Clinic early today of blood cancer. He was 63.

Ratoff, who wrote many of the original scripts of stage plays and films he directed, was born on April 20, 1897 in Petrograd, now Leningrad, in Russia, where he began his stage career after finishing commercial college. He went to New York 1932 to appear on Broadway. In more recent years he produced and directed the stage hit "All About Eve" and several films, among them "Black "The Heat's On," and "Operation Before the he acted in many Broadway plays including "Blossom Time." Avenue," and "Castle in the Air." Ratoff. has been living in Milan, Italy, with his wife, Maria Kostes, a well singer. He fell ill last fall and came to Switzerland for treatment by Prof.

said there were a total of 10.762 accidents in the first nine months this vear and 3,447 persons were injured. That total included 2,346 accidents in which the committee reported speed was involved and in that group 26 persons were killed. number of pedestrians killed in traffic was 20 in the first nine months of 1960 compared with 22 in the similar period last year. And the number of child fatalities in the same period this year was only, five compared with a total of 68 such deaths recorded in 1924.
